Override Request Form - BSN Spring 2024 Final Year Curriculum Students

This form is for OFFICIALLY ADMITTED BSN nursing students entering the final two semesters of the program (Traditional BSN semesters 7 & 8 and 2nd Degree BSN semester 5). This form covers overrides/chair approval for NSC 378, 480, 484, 487, 492, 495 and 496 courses. This form is not for pre-nursing students or newly admitted BSN students begining their 4th semester clinical nursing courses. Be sure to read instructions below BEFORE completing this form.



Prior to requesting overrides, students should obtain a RAC# from their advisor. Do not submit this form before receiving a RAC#.

REFER TO FAQ's on the School of Nursing home page for important information. Before submitting this form, students requesting clinical courses must:

  1. Only if needed, register for undergraduate Professional Liability Insurance (PLI) in myEKU as you would a class.
    NOTE: Fall '23 PLI CRN #10602 is in effect and covers Fall 2023-->Summer 2024.  Spring '24 PLI CRN #20401, if needed, covers Spring 2024-->Summer 2024 
  2. Verify all CastleBranch requirements are up to date THROUGH JANUARY 31ST. Refer to *CastleBranch Information below and clinical requirements in the BSN Student Handbook. Students not compliant in CastleBranch will have overrides put on hold. NO OVERRIDES WILL BE PROCESSED UNTIL ALL CLINICAL REQUIREMENTS ARE MET. Once overrides have been processed, students will receive a confirmation email from with section/CRN #'s.  If you need technical assistance contact

*CastleBranch Information: Adherence to the SON clinical records policy (see BSN Student Handbook) is required for eligibility to participate in clinical courses. The handbook deadlines to submit updates to CastleBranch are:

  1. Spring Semester--December 1st
  2. Summer Semester--May 1st
  3. Fall Semester--August 1st

It is the student's responsibility to confirm CastleBranch requirements have been met prior to requesting overrides for clinical courses. All required documents must be accepted and cannot expire during the term. For override purposes, students cannot have any requirements set to expire prior to or during the month of January. To avoid disenrollment, updated documents must be submitted and accepted PRIOR to the requirement expiration date.  If at any time required documentation lapses during the semester, the student is subject to immediate disenrollment and will be required to apply for readmission to the program. If you need to upload a document to CastleBranch in advance of a deadline, call customer service to request a new slot.
